Beach Bound

It's awesome to be able to find my calm at a special place. I love Qualicum Beach. When I'm here I feel as calm as I can be. When I smell the ocean and feel the sand I am so happy. We love when we can just chill and forget about the real world. Are you aware of how much of my province is on fire? Too much! I am sad for the people who have lost their homes and sad that we are not good tenants of Planet Earth. We spend to much time debating if climate change is real and not enough time planning for the foreseen forecast of forest fires. I'm scared we are all collectively agreeing to allow summer fires to become a regular part of life and people will lose homes, and animals too, every year.

I’m fortunate not to be personally affected, but I remember last summer when we drove through a town that burned down, and another time that we couldn't find any clean air and we smelled like smoke for a long time. I'm going to start talking about being happy but please remember how so many people are suffering because of the fires.

I love sitting at the picnic table with my friends, eating, playing games and chatting. I love jumping on my paddle board, I love walking the beach when the tide is out, I love wading in the ocean. I love being with the bunnies (it's a little island thing). Yes, I am very much happy ocean side.

I hope you're staying safe.
